Approximately 700 LF of unprotected shoreline, spanning between JAXPORT’S cruise terminal and the Dames Point Marine Terminal (DPMT), was experiencing significant erosion due to cyclical loading from wind, waves, and extreme tidal events. The shoreline is immediately adjacent to terminal parking and storage, and the erosion posed a threat to upland operations. Taylor Engineering led the engineering, permitting, and construction support services for the project with the primary objective to design and construct an armored stone revetment to restore, protect, and stabilize the eroded shoreline. The scope of services includes project meetings and coordination, site investigations, surveying, data collection, final engineering design, securing permits from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and providing bid and construction phase engineering services.
