The Model Modernization (Model Mod) project is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Coastal and Hydraulics Lab (CHL), Jackson State University, Woolpert, and Taylor Engineering. Launched in FY22, Model Mod aims to implement the Numerical Technology Modernization Strategy (NTMS) by integrating numerical models and tools to enhance navigation, flood-risk management, and ecosystem restoration. The project’s goal is to create a comprehensive, open-source, and cloud-based platform that increases efficiency, reduces costs, and invites community participation. Through this collaboration, Taylor Engineering is responsible for enhancing the functionality and usability of the integrated modeling system. Specifically, Taylor Engineering is tasked with designing end-to-end workflows and use cases to streamline the modeling process, supporting the setup, calibration, and validation of the models, and ensuring quality assurance and visualization of the models.
