City of Panama City Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant Wetland Monitoring

Project Details
Services

In compliance with its Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permit authorizing Panama City Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 1, the City of Panama City Beach (City) completes ongoing field data collection and annual wetlands monitoring reporting for its Wastewater Reuse to Wetlands Project. Wetland monitoring data collected and analyzed under this program include surface water and groundwater hydrology, surface water and sediment quality, vegetation, fish, and threatened and endangered species. The City has generally completed data collection, analysis, and reporting using in-house biological staff. However, due to an unforeseen staff loss in late 2022, the City required contracted environmental services to continue the monitoring effort until in-house staffing vacancies were filled. To assist with the wetland monitoring and reporting and to maintain compliance with the FDEP permit, the City engaged Taylor Engineering under its master services agreement for environmental services. Taylor Engineering successfully completed all permit-required wetland monitoring activities including field data collection, analysis, and reporting associated with the City’s Wastewater Reuse to Wetlands Project.
