Coastal Engineering

Taylor Engineering’s Coastal Engineering Group provides innovative coastal and inlet management solutions by specializing in the detailed analysis of coastal hydraulics, wave dynamics, sediment transport, and nearshore processes.

Application of the analysis results allows for the development of comprehensive designs for beach and dune restoration, regional sediment management plans, beach and inlet management plans, and innovative coastal structures. Our site-specific designs often include natural and nature-based features (NNBF) such as living shorelines that enhance environmental quality while achieving shoreline protection goals. Numerical models provide the foundation for our solutions and Taylor Engineering staff have the expertise to efficiently set up, validate, and apply coupled 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D numerical models to help our clients understand complex coastal conditions including coastal storm risk, compound flooding, storm-induced and long-term erosion, as well as sea level rise impacts.

Our decades of experience across coastal-focused processes analysis, structure design, and refined numerical modeling allows Taylor Engineering to develop leading edge solutions tailored to meet your specific challenges. We understand that in the coastal environment a “one size fits all” solution does not exist, and each site and community is unique.
