The Waterways Capacity Study represents one task within an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) in Alabama between Mobile Bay and Wolf Bay, a reach of approximately 10 miles. The EIS, with the Cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama as co-applicants, will provide a complete, objective appraisal of the positive and negative effects, including the cumulative effects, of the permitting activities and development along the Foley Landcut (FLC) portion of the GIWW in Baldwin County, Alabama. The Waterways Capacity Study component of the EIS focused on the existing personal watercraft traffic on the GIWW reach, the expected personal watercraft traffic following the proposed development, and existing and future level of commercial traffic.
