USACE Louisiana Coastal Engineering Services

This modeling study focuses on the coastal regions of eastern Louisiana and includes New Orleans. The model domain also includes coastal Alabama and Mississippi. The study aims to develop improved storm surge estimates for coastal Louisiana with application of the ADCIRC and STWAVE. A production system that couples ADCIRC and STWAVE was applied for 152 representative storms. Taylor Engineering acted in a support capacity for the wave modeling (STWAVE and 1D model) component by conducting QA/QC procedures for the STWAVE modeling. Taylor Engineering developed the STWAVE input files from WAM output files. Taylor Engineering also developed a GIS-based application to apply a 1-D wave model in areas outside of the STWAVE grids, or where STWAVE cannot adequately model the wave fields.
