The project lies within the Southwest Florida Water Management District's (SWFWMD) jurisdiction and specifically encompasses the north and south basins of the Homosassa River. In 2007 the SWFWMD contracted Taylor Engineering to perform a full watershed management assessment of the basins. These tasks include digital terrain processing, collection, and analysis of hydraulic and hydrologic information; watershed computer simulation; floodplain analysis and delineation; and best management practice analysis. The data collected and generated as part of these tasks will serve to populate the district's own geodatabase.
